Starrett SM412WRL Adhesive Graduation Interval Review

This tape allows you to place many areas in your store where you may need to take measurements. The only downside I see is that the band isn't divided into parts, ie four 3-leg sections or some other variation. It is graduated from 1 to 12 feet. I've found that if you're going to mount it on a wood surface it will stick much better if you put some contact adhesive on just the wood surface first.

Better than I expected. It's steel, not cheap vinyl, so you don't have to worry about wrong sizing due to stretching. Holds very well, just clean the surface with alcohol first. Keep in mind it's 1/2" wide, I knew that when I bought it, but after I got it I regretted I didn't get the 3/4" wide. I am a huge fan of Starrett products, I have never received anything from Starrett that I did not like.

Tape was accurate from 7 to 30 inches. I have no idea why I'm having problems. But going from 7" to 6" degrades the accuracy. A distance of 7 to 6 inches is the largest gap, but as you continue towards 0 the gap gets larger until it's about 1/16 inch at 1/4 inch. 7 inches to 0 measurements is longer than it should be. Maybe I stretched the band somehow, but it's metal so I don't know how that could have happened.

Metal strap like original. It is wrapped in the package and the paper backing is slightly twisted. During application, when removing the backing paper, care must be taken to smooth out any bumps or creases in the metal band left by the backing paper. I know what you're thinking, there can't be creases on the metal band, but you're wrong, there are small "bumps". But with a little care everything will be fine. This is a great product and I would buy it again if the need arose.

Before you tape this to your desk I would advise putting a 'groove' on it so that it lays flat in the 'groove' and not protrudes. to stop your projects when you're cutting wood and come across the thickness of a steel blade. They work great! The fence is aligned exactly without having to pull out the measuring tape every time. I simply place the starting point of the tape measure on the saw blade to get a perfect cut every time.

I used a Starret tape measure to replace the old tape measure on my Delta Unisaw. on the left is a 3/4" tape, but as it turns out, this 1/2" tape is very legible. This metal strap is very durable. The adhesive backing works perfectly and I was able to lay the tape perfectly flat. A foot of tape has a 1/32 inch pitch, which is great for precision cutting. Now I may be a bit biased as most of my measuring tools are Starrett's because they have proven to me to be extremely accurate and this tape is no exception.
