Works with Linux (see last note in test) Electronics

First of all, this test deals with the S251BU31REM hot-swap bay. The rest of the reviews here are for one or more completely different products. Revain really needs to stop their despicable practice of bundling reviews of products they consider "similar" products. I bought these (and a few extra cases) to use to secure my laptop and sync to my desktop. I can connect drives in enclosures to a laptop for an upgrade with short USB cables (more on that in a moment). Also, I can sync data between…

Mostly positive reviews for computer accessories and peripherals

I tried startech's product after three competitor drive bays failed after about 3 years. Ports are failing etc. As I've only been using it for a month I can't comment on durability yet. It has 2 fans while others seem to have one. The drive baskets feel well constructed and hold the drive securely. There are no problems installing them. One downside is that the drives require screws. Very small screws are used and they all come in a small package that is not resealable. Unless you need to load…

Visually and electrically they look beautiful. I installed my Samsung SSDs and the top bay ate my drive. After disassembling the block I found that the lever arm pushing the drive slides over the top of the drive. The actuator in question was 0.258 inches (about 6.5mm) thick. I put a few layers of fiberglass duct tape on the inside of the case to hold the lever down and attached a strap loop to the drive to allow it to be pulled out. when needed. The other block was finicky in aligning the…

Good unit. Come back for loud fans that can't be turned off.

There are a few things I love about this 4-bay mobile rack. Looks a lot better than most (although the finish isn't particularly durable). Subjects are locked. And best of all, it's small enough to fit in my HP Z4 Workstation's chassis. Everything inside the workstation is very cramped, but this fits perfectly, unlike IcyDock's much longer alternatives. There are also some things that could be improved. I don't understand why the (2) 4-pin molex power connectors are needed. Someone suggested…
