A few years ago I bought a 42U rack and 9 shelves for all my stereo components, the rack and shelves are all powder coated smooth and flat. I used my order history to purchase another shelf for a new component. The shelf arrived and was not powder coated, the shelf was gloss black with a crackle pattern and a rubbery texture and the color is soft. The shelf also had sharp protrusions from stamping. I originally bought 1 about 6 months ago and 2 more this week. These are good solid shelves that can hold quite a bit of weight. We've mounted some fairly large Adtran TSUs on it and they fit perfectly, and we used the other to store small non-rack mount items like a SOHO firewall and cable modem. The goods arrived quickly and in excellent condition.

Two of these were purchased for installing the client. For storing audio and video equipment that cannot be rack mounted (e.g. stereo receivers/amplifiers, DVD recorders, TVs/monitors, etc.).
