Great product - networking products

I use it in my observatory as a hub for everything in the telescope. So I only need one cable. It is exposed to the nighttime humidity. I protect it with a plastic bag when the observatory is closed to avoid condensation.

Pros
  • Same as everything before
Cons
  • Not the best

Great for field use with a small downside

I bought this USB 3.0 hub for use with astrophotography gear. I've used it in a variety of conditions, from freezing temperatures as low as -15°F to heavy dew during a Wisconsin summer that had water practically dripping onto my gear. It handled all of these conditions reliably and admirably - no other hub I've tried has performed as well. One minor downside - the 12V DC power connector on the hub isn't hardwired to the wires; This is a connection where you tighten a screw to hold the wire in…

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Very expensive

Unreliable and DOES NOT WORK with USB3.1 ports and later USB

This hub worked well with USB3.0 but with a newer computer with USB3.1 ports it becomes very problematic after a Windows Update it will work all the time, the PC can't find the device or it randomly fails. becomes extremely unreliable. Tech support is aware of the issue and was told it would take 6 months to a year to fix.

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • Nervous

I've used the Startech hub 4+ times.

I've used the Startech hub four times and on two occasions the blue plastic latch in the socket came loose from the connector causing a malfunction. So my 7 ports are now 5 ports. I would appreciate replacement plastic tabs to repair damaged ones.

Pros
  • Good stuff
Cons
  • Updates

If you are looking for a high quality ESD protected hub, this is it.

I have a test bench that uses *a lot* of USB based test equipment and even with anti-static mats and sprays I've always felt like my USB 3 hubs were damaged B .by static discharge or questionable test equipment. I've been using StarTech hardened USB 2.0 hubs for years and haven't had a single failure. So I added one of their USB 3 devices to the mix which worked flawlessly and that it can run from almost any power source is a big plus.

Pros
  • Not just useful for its intended purpose
Cons
  • There are cons

It's nice to have a metal cased USB3 hub that supports .

It's nice to have a metal USB3 hub that accepts a wide voltage range to power USB devices! It's great for the West Mountain Radio RigRunner and I take the hub power from RigRunner and power the whole thing with a 13.8 PSU. Using only one power adapter makes connectivity and portability easier.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • old
