Efficient and Effective

The StarTech Com USB Hub is a great addition to my computer accessory collection. After I put it to the test, I can confidently say that this USB-powered hub is able to charge and connect multiple devices simultaneously with ease. The sleek design fits perfectly into my setup and provides a neat and organized solution to my cable clutter problems.

Could be better

The price is not so low for nothing. The good first: 1) Easy connection to Thunderbolt 2) Connected devices recognized almost instantly 3) Ability to easily connect external drives that require power or no power 4) Works to charge devices like headphones when the laptop is off Now bad1) Assume 10 GB/s. I have one such device and when connected directly via Thunderbolt I get close to the advertised speed of a PCI NVMe 3x4 SSD. However, when the same element is connected to it, which should be 10

Looks good, works but isn't typical Startech

I will not scold Startech. They do some cool A$$ stuff, most of which I own. However, lately I've noticed a few things about some of the newer products that I'm concerned about slipping into the "Made in China" mold. this type C block is a good example. It works as it's supposed to, but for the price I thought it would have a metal body. This is ABS plastic. A rigid Type-C cable can cause it to tip over. it also needs a way to power the hub so you can run external hard drives from it. If your…
