starts fine but after 3 starts the starter drive nut came loose and the starter motor was binding. replaced the nut with a solid one and attached the nut to the shaft. works great now.

Works great. Plug and play for 1978 Mercury M800.4cyl 2-stroke. Jumps on strong and fits perfectly! Highly recommended. back on the water for a quarter of the price! Thank you!

Used to rebuild a 1986 Mercury 75hp - 4 cyl. Fired up right away. It seems to be the quality of the escapement, but the original was 34 years old. I hope I get such a life out of it.

This will not fit a 1988 Mercury outboard as it describes the starter motor as 2" longer than stock ☹️ but you can make this one The Job I had to use was 3/8 of a piece of cork I cut out 3 pieces to fit perfectly to lift the starter.

First off, you can't beat the price of this starter. Second, it works great. one with the right amount of teeth. The one we replaced had 10 - this one had 10! others have 8 so be careful.
