Put this on a 2005 RX8 with under 80,000 miles. The start took from about 5 seconds or more when hot to about a second. The difference is just crazy with the higher hp starter. Another new install so can't comment on longevity but I'm pleased.

Excellent product and definitely an update from stock. Moved from point starts to instant starts. The only drawback is not the real 2.0 kW, but 1.87 kW. They include the specs in the box which is why I gave them 5 stars for being honest.

Mazda made changes to the hot start that increased compression, but didn't say the original starter wouldn't start the car reliably. The original could only rev the engine up to 300rpm and the alternator wouldn't start, this starter spins at 750-800rpm, no problem. With this change you also need a better battery. This seller had the best price and fast.

I got a 2007 RX-8 as a project car. An immediate problem was the slow start. They checked my battery, it was bad and they replaced it. Another slow start. A few videos online and that's all I need. You will need a jack, a jack and wrenches. It's 2 screws and 2 plugs and you're done. I made my 19 year old daughter do it while telling her what to do. Now off to a strong start. Now about the repair of the engine.

Bought late January/early February. Worked pretty well when I first got it, about what I expected for the price. But the more time passed, the slower my start became, until it got to the point that my car would no longer start when it was warm and I had to try to start it from cold several times. The starter failed completely last week leaving me stuck and forcing me to push the start button on my car. I wouldn't recommend it although it works well initially, this product just doesn't last long
