Works well and fits perfectly as expected. Life jackets should be strong and snug on the chest and no higher than the child's ears because if the child drowns, a loose-fitting life jacket worn over the child's ears can keep their head underwater. My son has a lot of freedom of movement in this vest, it fits him and keeps him afloat. The price was good too, $19 with Prime compared to other $25-$50 options.

I measured my son and bought this youth life jacket and it barely fits. He weighs 50 pounds and 27 inches at the chest and that will NOT fit him next year. If I didn't need it so badly now, I would return it. We bought it despite many users claiming the advertised size was wrong. Guess they were right. The life jacket is clearly sized for children weighing 50 to 90 pounds. We bought two for our 9 year old twins who both weigh about 60 pounds. Life jackets hardly fit! The girls have to hold their breath to close the clips and the jackets rub their necks a lot. Of the Sterns Classic Series vests, I would only recommend the adult version for a proper fit. I bought two of these Youth Classic vests for my children (7yrs and 5yrs - £50 +/- 5). The vests are very tight on the chest, especially with two older children. Most uncomfortable, however, was the way the vest wrapped around the children's necks. This vest comes highly recommended by other parents of children with special needs who cannot swim. My son had just outgrown his old Speedo vest which worked well but as youth sizes don't have leg straps I ordered these on the advice of other parents.
