Steelex D1034 Deluxe Point 25 Piece Review

These are great parts for work projects. I make small items on my lathe and every once in a while I have to drill out the center to insert a brass tube (used to make handles) and these and just sharp end pieces do the job well. When a drill needs to be drilled a few inches, the tip helps keep the drill centered. I also like that they have a 1/16 pitch, which is important for pen making and some other hobbies. As noted in several reviews, the lapping tip is not perfectly aligned with the center of the drill shank. Having written this, I should point out that it doesn't seem to matter. I tested several bits with a drill press and a clamped piece of softwood. At the bottom of the fairly clean hole, there was a precise conical indentation from the needle tip, so it doesn't differ much. Before ordering this bit set I had read some "less than cheap" reviews so I had a pretty good idea of what to look out for and/or what to expect .
