Strathmore 307 18 Newsprint Smooth Sheets Review

Ideal for drawing figures and portraits with charcoal. The "smooth" texture is the real value here. This allows you to smooth out soft edges that look grainy and don't look good on medium or rough surfaces. Warning, if you fold the pages too roughly, you may tear the paper off the notebook.

I got this for my drawing class and it works really well. It's very big and the sides are pretty thin so it's pretty thin in thickness. However, the pages tear easily, especially when you try to take out a page or two. All in all, a good price and serves its purpose.

I needed this for school so I was delighted that it should arrive in time for class. But when it finally arrived, the yellow corners of the cover were torn and stained. And the spine was not fully fixed. I had to glue it back to the cardboard. Luckily the newsprint inside wasn't that damaged. Only scratched at the ends. I love the suppleness of Strathmore 300 Series Newsprint when I'm making quick gestures while warming up before drawing figures. It's also nice to do quick sketches to come up with ideas.
