I love love love drawing on black paper but it's hard to find really good or fairly expensive paper. These pillows are wonderful! Art quality paper. It has a good tooth but not too much for common brands of gel pens, white pens and the general type you want to use on black paper. The color is super black, just super. I love working with this paper. Negative painting is a challenge for me and I love figuring out how to make it look right. I also like the challenge of using just one pen for the entire drawing. The simplicity of it. I only used white charcoal so I don't know how good colored pencils will look on it. The paper is thick enough to erase easily. I liked the results I get with this paper. So I started off on a low note because my delivery box was IN A RUBBER and completely ruined it. HOWEVER Amazon customer service is AMAZING (shout out to them) and replaced the item for free. Now that I can actually use it I can say that this is a REALLY good black paper notebook. It's a true black with a slight hint of blue, making it nice and neutral (unlike some other black pads). The paper has a good medium thickness so layering with charcoal/pastel/dry medium works very well. Haven't tried
