Big kids were babies

I ordered size 5 for big kids standing 8-12 years old. I received a size 5 for toddlers. My 8 year old can't wear it. I checked again after receiving it and it shows big kids so it's too small. Disappointment. Shoes as in the photo. They look and feel high quality.

Pros
  • Available in different sizes to meet your child's needs
Cons
  • May not be suitable for children with sensory processing problems

The best sneakers for active kids!

I love the Stride Rite shoes. My daughter is very picky about shoes and they last much longer than other brands. I especially like that they are wide because Puma and Adidas are usually too narrow for that. It is walking in shoes every day. Just came back to buy the same shoes in a larger size!

Pros
  • Antimicrobial lining for odor control and hygiene
Cons
  • May cause blisters or irritation in some children

The width is not wide in my opinion.

I bought 8w for a child of 3.5 years. I could barely get her foot in. Will return. We've had their Step Rite shoes in the past and they fit the width well. Not this shoe. Too much padding even with the insole removed.

Pros
  • Offers a secure and comfortable fit for long walks
Cons
  • Not recommended for children with ulcers or leg ulcers

Great shoes: my review

Nice sale for $20. The Xwide are not very wide giving my child enough room to play and her shoes don't feel too tight. would recommend.

Pros
  • Cute shoes for cute kids
Cons
  • It's very tight. Not comfortable!

We love Stride-Rite shoes...but not these

They were incredibly difficult to put on and even though they were the right size, he had stains on his feet from being too tight when he first put them on. Repeated spots lasted for weeks.

Pros
  • Designed for boys and girls
Cons
  • Limited shock absorption can cause discomfort during active activities.

good shoes new review

Shoes with good lining. My son had trouble getting to his feet but he said it was otherwise comfortable. We sent the boot back and ordered a wide one instead to make it easier to get in and out of.

Pros
  • Excellent arch and ankle support. Excellent cushioning insoles Very well made.
Cons
  • The bottom of the shoe started falling off shortly after purchase.

width is good! good for me

A pediatrician recently told me that I need to buy him good support shoes that are too big for him because he "knees". He said most kids outgrow it, but the right shoes will help. He has had fewer falls than usual so far and seems more comfortable in it overall! Hope this helps someone else in the same situation!

Pros
  • Available in a variety of colors to suit all tastes
Cons
  • Limited toe protection can lead to toe injuries while playing.

Didn't take long - my new review

My son has a wide foot and they are very comfortable in the wide size. However, after about 6 weeks the velcro straps started to stretch and after about 3 months the underside of the sole came loose.

Pros
  • Ideal for children with sensory needs
Cons
  • Limited arch support can be uncomfortable for children with foot problems.

Don't want to walk!

I tried several sizes and it didn't matter. It's almost impossible to stand on my one year old's foot without applying too much pressure. I saved her ankles and bought cheaper shoes from Walmart. She'll outgrow them in a few months anyway. *shrugs*

Pros
  • High flexibility for unrestricted freedom of movement
Cons
  • May not be suitable for children with high arches.

Poor quality shoes fit me

These sneakers last about 3 months before the sole wears out making the shoe unwearable. This is completely unacceptable for a shoe in this price range. Hush Puppies last many times longer than this one. I will not buy this brand again.

Pros
  • Easy to mix and match color for a versatile look
Cons
  • May not be sufficiently adjustable to accommodate swelling or growth spurts

Comfortable shoes but poor quality

My daughter got them as a gift and after less than a month of use the tongue on the shoe started to come loose. I emailed Stride Rite but never got a response from them. These are good shoes but for the price the shoes should hold up better.

Pros
  • Can be worn with a variety of outfits including jeans, leggings, shorts and dresses.
Cons
  • Not recommended for children with pronation problems

Will have to change my rating!

These shoes were too small for my child. She was only able to wear them once as her legs were injured and her veins started to bulge. She only has Stride Rite shoes and they don't fit at all!

Pros
  • Breathable footbed to keep you cool and dry
Cons
  • Shoes can be difficult to clean

Completely disappointed and angry at how much I spent!

We urgently needed wide children's tennis shoes for my grandson. They fell apart after 3 months. After spending $40 I am very dissatisfied with it!

Pros
  • Conforms to the latest safety standards
Cons
  • Limited ankle support can cause discomfort in children with ankle problems.

Too small! my pros and cons

My daughter usually wears a size 8M from other brands, but the Stride Rite shoes are kinda too small for her. We had to return this one (8W) and get another Stride Rite in 8.5 Wide.

Pros
  • well done. The size is weird. I bought 3 different sizes before making the right choice but the quality is worth it.
Cons
  • shoes of love. I wanted 8-1/2 and they sent me 7w

Perfect for everything

My son loves the grip (and likes to test it) as well as the fit and comfort. Apart from that, the shoe is suitable for almost every occasion - for play, at school and for everything else that is not too formal. Stride Rite just knows how to make great shoes for kids.

Pros
  • It was a really good pair of shoes for my daughter who has wide feet.
Cons
  • Do people really spend $55 on it?

Good shoes I think

The sneakers are very cute on my 2 year old granddaughter. She seems comfortable in it. They are of good quality. I bought her a size 9 in October and it fits just right. Not much leg room. I like the rite of passage for children. They just last longer and are safe to wear.

Pros
  • Provides excellent arch support for all-day comfort.
Cons
  • Not compatible with most orthopedic insoles.

NOT wide: my review

I'm only giving one star because we ordered a 4.5 width and this style of Stride Rite is NOT wide. We used to have Rhett by Stride Rite 4 Wide shoes and they were perfect. I ordered a 4.5" wide sneaker in this style and found it uncomfortable to put on my little boys feet. Everything else about the shoe is great as always. Stride rite have top notch products but this style of shoe is different from other Stride rite shoes.

Pros
  • Suitable for all surfaces including grass, sand and concrete.
Cons
  • May not provide enough traction for outdoor activities

Disappointed - my new rating

waste of money. The band is almost unsewn after the second use, and I even got the Wide size. Also, the velcro doesn't hold up very well. Very disappointed.

Pros
  • Helps develop gross motor skills
Cons
  • Not recommended for children with wide calves
