Showed me my iron is not essential.

Easy to use. Not the most sensitive, but well quantifiable, well defined, and sensitive enough to help me see that my tap water has less iron than I feared.

Pros
  • Check drinking water quickly and easily
Cons
  • Has been damaged

I agree, not helpful when iron is bound to another element.

Most likely the iron in your well water is bound to another element or molecule and these streaks only appear as free iron. So it's a waste of money trying to verify that your iron filter that water from the well is flowing through is working properly.

Pros
  • Flip-top desiccant keeps strips fresh.
Cons
  • Not sure.

No color change at any iron level

I tested my well water which pollutes everything in the house and it has not changed color at all. I tested several times with the same result. I then switched to treated greenhouse water which contains 10ppm iron chelate (I add it myself) and got the same results. As far as I can tell, these strips show no color change at any iron level.

Pros
  • No need for a field kit or reagents to do tests
Cons
  • I will add later
