Description of Studor 20297 Maxi Filtra Admittance Valve

Active carbon filter designed to eliminate bad odors produced by the drainage system. Designed for use on septic tanks and lift stations; fits 3- or 4-inch piping. Eliminates sewer gases from entering buildings and polluting the surrounding areas (when used as part of the complete Studor System); includes replaceable carbon filter (maximum life of 2 years) to remove bad odors and a rubber connecter. Install externally anywhere the odor from existing vents presents a problem; no specialist installation required. Can be retrofitted to existing plumbing systems (if all design and installation criteria are met); can also be used for buildings connected to main sewer line in some cases (contact Studor technical department to determine installation feasibility).

Good product. suitable for fittings

Purchased December 2015. I installed it just over 2 years ago. We've had a terrible time smelling like sewer gas on a cold morning since our sewer pipe was replaced. This brought a huge improvement. The filter has not been changed for 2 years, it still works. The filter cartridge is tiny and the activated carbon inside must have stopped working long ago. I think the device is really just restricting airflow IMHO. However, it does a great job.

Pros
  • valves
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Studor 20297 Ventilation filter

For ventilation of a septic tank, odorless. Not sure how long the filters will last but they will probably be replaced before the recommended 2 year period but the price for a pack of 20 filters (Studor 20700) is very reasonable. Fits perfectly in 4" Schedule 40 PVC pipe. No valve, just a filter. I see no need for a plug (Studor 20398) as it makes the vent look more obtrusive than it is and makes valve replacement difficult. Filter, and the unit is marked as UV-resistant

  • Valves
Cons
  • Crumpled

Although I would have expected better performance for the price.

I added this to my sump pit's jackal anti-radon coating. I was advised by a local plumbing supplier that it could be added to get rid of the stale water smell I get from the swamp. I don't feel like it did much to help get rid of the smell. I know this is for roof vents, but in theory it should work for what I'm using it for. It also consists of a simple PVC construction and is significantly more expensive for this construction. But all of these things work in the same price range, regardless…

Pros
  • Industrial & Scientific
Cons
  • Slightly Crumpled
