Genuine Subaru Parts.

not to be compared with genuine Subaru parts. I expect to put another 200,000 miles on this one just like the previous one.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Useless functions

It's great to find OEM parts for.

I had a lot of play in the driver's front ball joint, which was making a surprisingly loud noise. Changed it and the problem was solved. It's great to find genuine parts online at a good price. The car is mounted on a 1998 Subaru Impreza 2.2l.

Pros
  • That's it
Cons
  • Minor problems

Quality item and perfect fit but shown without cotter pin and slotted nut

This fits my 2002 Forester perfectly which I expected as it is an OEM product. However, please note that the picture is misleading as the product you will receive does not include a castle nut and cotter pin. I don't know anything about the durability.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Nothing here

Original ball joint. Made in Japan. Hardware not included.

Genuine Subaru ball joint, made in Japan. This item is ONLY for the ball joint itself, no other hardware is included. The kit does not come with a new castle nut and cotter pin as shown. Does not include spindle through bolt and nut. I had to remove the old rusty iron from the car. Otherwise, the ball joint itself is of high quality and, as I said, made in Japan. Definitely worth a few bucks more to replace the original made in Japan. I try to only buy parts made in Germany, Japan or the USA.

Pros
  • So far so good
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Original factory quality

Original factory ball joint. Subaru has used the same lower ball joint design for about 20 years. My Forester has 120,000 miles and the factory ball joints are still fine. So why replace them, you ask. Well, I have to remove the front arms to replace the stock bushings with polyurethane bushings, so while everything is being disassembled I might as well install new ball joints. They don't include any hardware (locknut, cotter pin, tie bolt) but you can get them at your local dealer for about $5

Pros
  • While satisfied
Cons
  • I will later write

Came in original Subaru packaging.

The originals lasted at least 150,000 so why not use the same ones? I reused my nut and installed new cotter pins. Installation/removal tips. First I removed the pinch bolt, then I used a very long pry bar to remove the ball joint from the knuckle. I then used a cucumber fork borrowed from AutoZone (Alltrade 648630 Kit 56 Tie Rod Separator and Ball Joint Tool Kit) and a 6-pound sledgehammer to remove the ball joint from the control arm. The service manual recommends removing the stabilizer bar…

Pros
  • Quality Construction
Cons
  • Requires Socket
