This thing produces TONS of water flow. I do not recommend this for tanks smaller than say 100 gallons. It really moves on my 125; However, it does not crowd the fish, which is ideal for eliminating dead areas in such a large aquarium. I think the complaints/fears that he might suck the fish are unfounded. Sick/dead fish or something tiny like neon tetras can get sucked into the suction filter, but larger fish will not be affected.

I have a 60 gallon aquarium with African cichlids, snails and catfish growing and I think it's beating the snails in the seaweed sheets because he poops A LOT! I liked the pumps. They worked great, weren't as loud as some people write (although they weren't "quiet" by any means), and were reasonably priced. My clownfish didn't really like it because the damn pump blew them out of the water (in a 55 gallon corner tank). I had to return them and take much less powerful pumps to pump the water. I don't understand the good reviews as there are serious flaws in the design of this pump. I didn't have a magnet but a suction cup. ok nothing wrong huh? Except that the knot holding the motor is capricious and not strong. The motor head probably weighs a good 2 pounds, so imagine weight affecting suction power over time. Not only that, the motor head was everywhere as he angrily pumped water at my fish, my rocks, sand, etc. and probably gave me a fish stick somewhere in his house. I need to…

I rarely write reviews but today I thought about it and I think this little pump deserves it. At first I saved money getting into reef farming and instead of buying big brands like Maxspect and AI Nero pumps I decided to start with something simple. Bought this pump. It's been a year and a half and it's worked the whole time, it's covered in seaweed, vermetid snails as if everything a reef aquarium can go through has grown on it and it hasn't missed a beat and has no parasitic tension to boot .

Get real value from your moving water investment. This thing (the 1300 GPH version) created a perfect flow in my 150g tank. This helped a lot to prevent dirt/debris from settling in the substrate allowing my filter to hold a lot more. Installation was easy, although the instructions can certainly be a bit confusing for the layperson. Make sure you know if you're getting a magnetic or suction unit. The instructions are displayed as if they were all magnetic versions. No problems with the product
