Review on Enhance Your Aquarium with the Super Aquatic JVP-102A 1300Gph Circulation Pump: Efficient Wave Maker Power Head with Strong Suction Cup by Jamie Studebaker

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A+ for Loudness, D for Noise

Get real value from your moving water investment. This thing (the 1300 GPH version) created a perfect flow in my 150g tank. This helped a lot to prevent dirt/debris from settling in the substrate allowing my filter to hold a lot more. Installation was easy, although the instructions can certainly be a bit confusing for the layperson. Make sure you know if you're getting a magnetic or suction unit. The instructions are displayed as if they were all magnetic versions. No problems with the product slipping/dropping after installation. Very easy to move/redirect the device. While this is excellent value for money, there are some hidden costs. This thing is very noisy compared to its peers. I have an old noisy air pump to aerate my tank and the noise of this thing drowns it out. Much louder than expected but I have a huge tank and it's more annoying than anything. Someone with less space and a smaller tank, or super-picky species might want to avoid this. Warning: - Not recommended for tanks <100g. Too much for my 150g. Make sure all live plants are well anchored before turning this thing on. It will move more water than you think. I aimed mine at the rear window at an angle to dissipate some of the energy as it almost pulled some of my tall grass out of the substrate using DC. I installed in an existing aquarium with community. Almost all of my fish were over ten years old, so I wasn't overly concerned about causing stress. Some definitely short term stress with younger/smaller fish but they adapted/adapted quickly and all seem to be thriving with more natural water conditions. The added water stimulation even seemed to help one of my 2 year old dojo charr who had been partially paralyzed for 6 months. He has significantly improved in his swimming skills and appears to have fully regained the ability to use his entire body after being forced to lie on the floor for half a year. Don't use this if you have a small aquarium or fussy fish. I'm not kidding when I tell you this thing can add flow to a small aquarium. An ideal purchase for those with large tanks and a tolerance for some noise.
