Easy to use, safe, sturdy and won't cut your fingers

Very easy to use for picture frames or other items to hang on the wall - no sharp edges or cut fingers! Added support cables to several jersey crates that installed without drilling in flooded basement walls. Works well, rated for weight over hanging objects and provides an extra level of security. Very satisfied, would have no hesitation in recommending to friends and family!

Useless spool of wire leaves a mess

I am giving one star because of the poor design of the spool when the end of the spool broke off while I was tying the wire to it. The wire came off the spool and is now a mess, couldn't put the end cap back on, the wire came off like a tight fit, contrary to what the reviews say below, I am leaving a photo so you can see what you end up with trying to cut away much of the clutter to try to keep the remaining scroll together and simplify it again. It's too late for me to go back, this is…

The spool was broken upon arrival. However, the product is very good.

The product itself is very good. Used as wire to hang pictures, it is very beautiful and keeps its shape when twisted. However. The plastic spool it is packaged on was broken upon arrival. There were no parts in the box so I have to assume it was broken at the shipping center. (Did Revain ship it?) The wire on the spool completely unwound in the box during shipping and was very difficult to manage. 500 feet of stainless wire literally ripped out of the box like a long loose spring. I made my…

Choose the right wire size for your project

Superior quality, Made in the USA. Comes with multiple wire sizes so be careful when ordering. Wire and Cable Specialties, Inc. website. provides data on each wire size so you can decide which one is right for you. The pictures on Amazon may not match the size of the wire so pay attention to the description. Larger formats are thicker and therefore harder to work with, so don't reach for them unless you have a really heavy painting. You can weigh your photo on a bathroom scale. If in doubt…

Beware of this wire

I am a professional framer. I've been using coated wire for a long time because it looks nice and clean. I bought it for an art exhibition of my paintings. Doubled and twisted at the loop like I always do. As this coating is here, it can slowly slip and peel off. One of my pieces collapsed and luckily it had a frame to withstand the impact. The frame has been damaged. I don't know, is this cheaply made or is the cover SUPER soft, more so than usual? But we had to go around and double knot all…

love wire; I hate packaging. :(

This is the best wire for hanging pictures unless you have REALLY heavy pictures. You can never fully curl them when cutting. This spool even comes with very clear photos that showing how to bend it However for those of us artists who have never mastered the surgical knot required to secure it I was very disappointed with the packaging work as this coil has two holes on the edge for you to screw the cut end back in .My spool snapped on both sides due to the packaging work. :( will unravel like…

love wire; I hate the packaging. :(

This is the absolute best wire for hanging art unless you have REALLY heavy paintings. The plastic coating prevents you and the customer from cutting yourself with those pesky fingers little tiny wires twisted into these other types of hanging wires that you can never fully crimp when you cut this spool even includes very clear pictures of this wire being bent back on itself so it doesn't come loose We Artists, who have never mastered the surgical knot required to secure the traditional wire…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

I took a freshly printed print from a framer friend and noticed how neatly the back wire was wrapped. I asked him if he had a car that wrapped so neatly. No, he said he used this vinyl coated wire and it was just neatly coiled. I exhibit prints year round and frame most of my own exhibition prints because they are fairly easy to frame (further framing artwork I give to my professional friend) and to date I have always used bare stranded steel and not only has it been messy, but it often left…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance

Great Picture Hanging Wire

I create fine art photography and digital art on canvas to sell and display at art fairs. Most art guilds require that you tape the ends of the picture hanging wire with tape to prevent cuts when hanging the pictures. I no longer need extra time to wrap the ends because this wire is coated and doesn't create sharp edges. #5 wire is a good general purpose wire. He will hold 43 pounds. but not too thick for small pictures. It is easy to work with and easy to wrap the ends. It is strong and…
