Good fit, not OEM quality. does the job.

The fit is good, you need a size 12 socket to loosen all the stock bolts, but the new ball bolt was a bit larger. Also, the ball washers were less durable than the OEM lock washer. Also remember to save the old screws that go in the top as they don't come with new ones.

Pros
  • Easy assembly without special tools.
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Exact Replacement: Replacement Parts

The original pistons that hold the tailgate in place eventually reached the point where they just couldn't support the weight of the tailgate properly. So the door only opened 3/4 and I kept hitting my head! Swapping the plungers now opens the door fully and no headbanging! However, installation was a bit tricky as there is a clamping metal clip at the end of the piston that needs to be partially removed before installing the new piston ball joint. Once you understand how to do it successfully,

Pros
  • Length from center bracket to center bracket is 20.04 inches.
Cons
  • Lots of parts
