Dissatisfied. A while. on extension cords and surge protectors

The surge protector was easy to install if you have basic electrical knowledge, but I had my electrician friend install it anyway, just to make sure everything was done correctly. Since installation it was plugged into a 50 amp RV outlet that I had installed in my house. 3 days ago I unplugged the motorhome to move it and left it unplugged for 3 days. Yesterday I plugged it back in and found that the SG isn't coming back like it should. It indicates that both lines have the correct voltage (2…

  • All right!

Easy to install while it works

I replaced a blown (literally) automatic transmission with this device. This was a little tricky as the bus manufacturer used a different type of cable with bare copper grounds from both the generator set and the AC unit. This left me with four separate, different sized copper conductors for the neutral. I ended up installing an outside junction box in my utility duct to make two connections with wire clamps designed to connect different sized conductors i.e. neutral and ground. Everything…

Great Price, Surge Protector, Serenity

This surge protector is worth every penny. This gives me peace of mind every time I plug in my RV. I especially like that it monitors the voltage in the network and turns off when the voltage exceeds the specified parameters. This protects air conditioners and household appliances. What I didn't particularly like was that the connections are located on the front panel. I would prefer to mount them on the back of the device. I was then able to mount the unit through a cutout in the panel to…

Did not work properly with 20 amp 120 volt current.

First, let me admit that I am not a professional electrician. However, I am ASE certified in Automotive Electrical and Electronic Systems and have an above average understanding of voltage, current, resistance and electricity. I installed a surge protector on my 5th wheel at home which has a dedicated 30 amp outlet and everything seemed to work fine. 2 days later I went on a 2-week road trip with my 5th bike and easily connected 50 amps of electricity again. When I got home at 10pm and didn't…

Buyer beware, very temperamental and leaves you guessing

Long post but highly recommend reading BEFORE purchasing this unit. I bought the unit about a year ago (3000 miles) and will say it "caught" some wiring issues at RV parks. We had to wiggle the fork more than once to make the earth "work properly." We did a winter hike in December and on our first and second stop we had to wiggle the fork to get ground contact(?). At our last stop on the way home, we plugged in the device and the device counted down (we have a remote display) and then nothing…

  • No power
