Workmanship needs improvement

Sliding T-Bevel does what it is supposed to, but the workmanship needs improvement. The brass is not at right angles to the handle. Pure cosmetics, but still.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • All right

Disappointed with the quality

Disappointed with the quality. The brass ends are decals, they don't even get sanded down before painting. It's cheap and does what it's supposed to do, but I expected better quality from the Swanson.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Little things

Weak, unreliable master carpenter

This tool is of very poor quality especially the screw cap which does not hold the blade firmly or securely at all. The wood and metal materials in the photo look good, but the device itself is flimsy and poorly made.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Speed Dial and Accuracy

Price is lower than the same item at my local hardware store. Holds in place to maintain accuracy when transferred to the workpiece I'm cutting. Fits well in tight spaces and works better than my old T-Bevel half wing nut configuration.

Pros
  • Best in Niche
Cons
  • Questionable Elderly Buy

The supplier quickly delivered the missing screw. BEAUTIFUL TOOL!

My previous comment pointed out the missing part. I was surprised at how quickly the supplier/seller sent a replacement! This tool is a work of art: high-quality wood combined with a steel blade that is easy to read. Perfect. ! All edges are sharp: This is important as each edge can be used as a marking aid. Thank you Mr/Ms seller!

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Bearing

Great price for a classical instrument.

This is a great value tool. However, the angle viewfinder is delivered unfinished. The wood (probably IPE or other foreign hardwoods) has no finish on the instrument at all. The edges are uncomfortably sharp. A sanding sponge to round the edges and then a few coats of boiled linseed oil made it nice and easy to use.

It would be great to make it out of plastic!

Given the cost, the design should be better. Just a few drops in all the brass tips broke off immediately. With a little super glue and epoxy this was an easy fix. However, I had to sand some to fix the brass overhang after gluing. It was a little annoying. It would be better if they just made the ends out of wood and didn't even add brass. I probably wouldn't order again and found a plastic version.

Pros
  • Strong locking blade allows multiple measurements
Cons
  • unreliable

A Chinese junk is more than just a boat

Well, an 8.00 mile voyage is worth something. Sharp edges on wood and "brass" can be corrected with light sanding and steel wool. By oiling the wood you then have an attractive and useful tool. The Chinese have two thousand years of experience in producing poorly designed and finished products for export. You know how to cut suckers. Too bad workers don't have the pride of producing something valuable for the owner. When I'm done with that, this will be the one for me. But who do I look to for…

Pros
  • 9" stainless steel blade with finely engraved black graduations in easy-to-read US and metric units
Cons
  • No performance

Needs some tweaking for accuracy

This sliding T-Bevel took almost an hour to convert into a useful tool that I'm confident in the accuracy of. I will use it to mark dovetail joints. Because of the plastic wrap, all four brass ends were better than 1/16 inch above the hardwood registration fences, and the hardwood registration fences were not in the same plane on both sides. A brass-tipped file, a piece of sandpaper attached to a glass plate, and more elbow grease than I expected (a little expected at this price point), the…

Pros
  • Large diameter flush tension knob for easy adjustment
Cons
  • So far so good
