Inexpensive card based on AQC107 with poor heat sink assembly

I bought this to Replacing the older AQC108 card (5GB and below). I was able to connect at 10Gbps almost immediately with no issues, but I noticed that the card's heatsink didn't get as hot as the slower card. I removed the heatsink after carefully removing the spring fasteners and found that the heatsink appeared to be attached to the chip with double sided tape (!) rather than the usual heat transfer method. It was transparent and wrinkled like cheap magazine glue. After replacing it with a…

Works, driver installation is a bit tricky

Online drivers didn't work after recent Windows 10 update The included CD worked but needed some drivers Do some detective work to figure out which of the ten or so folders is the correct set of files.

Pros
  • Features Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) and Precision Time Protocol (PTP)/1588v2
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Works well and compatible with Mac OS Mojave

Card works well , but delivers slightly less 10Gbe throughput compared to my previous Intel X540-T2. Works well in macOS Mojave. Wake On LAN stopped working after a year. Indicates poor quality parts. upset. I would recommend the Aquantia 10G Gaming (black PCB) if you want the best quality and reliable WOL.

Pros
  • Compliance - IEEE 802.3bz - NBASE-T, IEEE 802.3x - Flow Control, IEEE 802.1P - Quality of Service, IEEE 802.1QAV - AVB
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

wow electronics on internal components

Living in the future. Compiling for xenserver was a real hassle, you had to download the ddk from their website (login required, free), then set up the VM, import the source and set it up properly. Use their example. although it works. It's built into the Linux kernel, but xenserver 7.6 still uses the older one.

Pros
  • Integrated PCIe, MAC and PHY solution provides energy efficient and compact connectivity for client systems
Cons
  • Security
