Poor sound quality from headphone jack

Wanted to use one of my turntables exclusively with headphones. I tried it with my rega rp3 and audio technica atlp120. I've also tried this with several headphones including the Grado SR225. The headphone output lacked bass and was severely distorted when set at a reasonable listening volume. Went back to Amazon, it was useless for my purpose.

Pros
  • Useful for more than intended purpose
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for elderly

Pros
  • Rugged build
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Setup was easy, I hooked it up to my receiver and phono with no problems, but I did notice a hum in the MC settings that I couldn't get rid of. Maybe the floor doesn't work that well, I don't know. However, it becomes less noticeable when the music starts playing and when I rock the…
