Great economical and reliable pond pump

I have used Rio pumps for decades and have always been very satisfied with their reliability and low energy consumption. So I keep buying them when the need arises. My experience is the life expectancy of a new Rio pump. It used to be 2 to 3 years, now it's 4 to 5 years.

  • Elegant design

  • Vulgarity

Excellent Pump Best in Water Pumps

Taam Rio make great pumps. I have a 1100 that has been running for about 10 years (sump return pump). I bought this while trying to replace an unknown brand dead pump in my protein skimmer but it was too big to fit the existing attachments. Otherwise these are great pumps.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes

  • Bad Instructions

Efficient little pump.

Taam Rio Plus 1100 Aqua Pump and Head - 382 GPH - Very Efficient Small Submersible Pump. Having never used a submersible pump before, I was a little skeptical and worried it wouldn't work. I found that the pump should be running and not lying on its side. Just plug it in and the little pump is a lot quieter than the previous pump we used. Good flow from 3 1/2 foot head. I am very impressed and happy with how well this little pump works for the price. I would recommend this pump without…

Almost too strong but well made

This pump is well made and very powerful. I had trouble finding the correct 3/4 ID hose. I finally found what I needed at a pond store in the next county. I use it to pump fresh water from a bucket into my 5 foot tall fish tank. My old pump was underpowered and took forever to empty a 5 gallon bucket. It takes about a minute as it empties a bucket and it's so powerful that I have to be careful or the force will uproot my plants or punch a hole in my gravel soil. It has a control valve that I…

Was a workhorse for me.

While I wouldn't call these high end pumps high end pumps, I had to commend this product. I've owned four Rio pumps over the years and never had a problem. This 1100 has been running 24/7 for almost 5 years and was still running when I removed the tank. Not only that; but it happened in a dirty environment without a single maintenance/cleaning. I usually have to service/clean the pumps at least once a year. I actually bought a replacement two years ago with the expectation that it will fail and
