Well I had one of these but it broke a month after buying it. As a carpenter I'm learning to adapt, so I bought an Extreme Fatmax chalk box. He took out the leash and replaced it with a braided leash. She works fine.

I really like this tool. Aside from the fact that it makes a very sharp thin line, I like the fact that it doesn't throw chalk out of the string hole all over the piece every time I pull a string. A PLUS. Nobody at work has it, and of course that means you're cooler than everyone else. LAUGH OUT LOUD

Used it in a monthly project. Well built but not as good as I expected. The unique design makes it easy to find in a pile of rubbish. Is it worth the extra money? It depends on you! If you find yourself taking good care of it and/or buying the best tool you can afford, it's worth it. You won't find a better chalk box at your local store.

I've had this chalk line for about a year now. Although I don't use it every day, as a farmer I've done well in a variety of situations. I've had about a dozen boxes of chalk over the years. This one is way better than any other I've seen. Let me start by saying that I plan houses to live in. I've used pretty much every type of chalk box out there and am still looking for one that will stand up to the use I've put it in. The biggest problem I've found with all of these is that chalk gets caught between the reel and the body causing it to stick which transfers torque to the handle.
