Sharp lens on par with Canon 70-200 IS II f2.8

I am pleased with the overall performance of this lens. Use it on the Canon 5D Mark III body. Focusing is quick. Bought for a used price of 1 with a 3 year international Mac warranty. This is better than buying a new lens as the lens was actually unopened and still in the box. The $500 price difference is for the 3-year US 1-year international warranty only. manufacturer guarantee. Before buying, I read reviews and analysis comparing Canon 70-200 IS ii f/2.8 lenses. Tamron's 4-speed reduction…

Incredible telephoto lens for landscapes

UPDATE: There was a problem with the lens and I had to send it to Tamron for warranty repair. GREAT customer service experience. The repair was quick. I sent it to them with UPS slow shipping and got it back 10 days later. Better experience than Nikon customer service. I am very happy that I bought this lens! The autofocus with it on my D750 is quiet and fast. It's so fast it's hard to tell if it's even focused! As if nothing had happened. Now this is my fastest focusing lens. I find that the…

Great Beast - Camera & Photo

About me: I consider myself a well-read enthusiast with the budget to revive an old hobby from the 35mm darkroom days. I bought this lens after reading and seeing many recommendations for this particular 70-200mm format also available from Nikon, Canon and Sigma. According to other reviews, Tamron does not lag behind analogues from Nikon or Canon, it is better than Sigma and cheaper than the first two manufacturers mentioned above. So, while I can't compare, my observations are as follows: All…

Want to know if this lens is as good as they say?

Are you all wondering if this lens is really as good as they say it is? Better. I'm a professional who uses my lenses on a daily basis. I expect and demand a lot from them. I'm not a brand whore and I don't justify the price just because of the label. If I've learned one thing though, it's that sometimes saving can cost $$ money. And if there's ever a product area where that's true, it's lenses. I've spent a lot of time shooting with both the Canon 70-200 f/2.8 Mark II and the Tamron SP 70-200…

Semi-professional with 2 years of experience with the lens

I won't go into the properties because to be honest, many here don't care and they don't understand. That's what DPReview and DXOMark are for. I shoot 6A high school sports like football, basketball, baseball and lacrosse and bought this lens shortly after it was released on the recommendation of my local Tamron Midwest rep (whom I met at one of the games I was shooting). I used to rent a Canon 70-200 f/2.8 Mk I and then II. While they produced amazing results (the Mark II version in…

Completely standard product, nothing remarkable.

That is, the “hole” in Tamron is formally f2.8, but either this is the design of the lenses, or the lens is too contrasty (its pattern is much more contrast than that of the Sigma), the output image is darker than the standard one at f2.8. That is, in fact we have not f2.8, but somewhere f3.2-3.5. Surprise awaited me when I contacted the Tamron office in Hong Kong. When I asked what converters this lens works with, they answered, theoretically, “that it should work with 2x and 1,4x” (I don’t…

Pros
  • Focusing speed, price, 5 year warranty.
Cons
  • Aperture is not 2.8, contacts with the camera are periodically buggy and autofocus fails - you need to unscrew the lens and snap it back in. This lens does not have the declared 2,8. I used to use Nikkor and Sigma at work. Both 70-200 2.8, set the same parameters under the same conditions. As soon as I started using Tamron, I should set the shutter speed to a stop longer (instead of 200 I put 160), only in this case the picture is similar in lightness to the previous glasses. More: The Sigma 2x teleconverter, which successfully worked on Nikkor and Sigma, refused to work at all on Tamron: it does not focus. He lacks light - he does not receive f2.8 from the lens. I put the Sigma 1.4x converter - it works great! And as you know, a 1.4x converter needs a minimum aperture of f4 to work.

Everything about the purchase suits me, a very necessary product.

a lens from the MUST HAVE category - in terms of picture and reliability, a competitor to the Nikkor 70-200 Af-s VR II, which is much more expensive and no better - tested = I know. now for a low price it is being poured into avito - at very reasonable prices, so I recommend it. since 2014, no complaints about work and reliability - 5 seasons of fashion week in Moscow have passed, dozens of weddings and corporate parties - everything is just gorgeous. I don’t see the point in selling (this is…

Pros
  • - at aperture 2.8 a clear and sharp picture - cameras d700 / d3s / d750 / d7100 - fast autofocus, very fast sweep of the entire focus range - the most gorgeous image stabilizer - at 200mm you can shoot from 1/20 with a probability of 2/3 to get a sharp frame - classic focal length 70-200 - for reporting, conferences. studio and outdoor portraits are NOT REPLACEABLE
Cons
  • - the weight - no longer for sale, replaced G2, which turned out to be 25-30k more expensive and with a jamb around the focusing ring and a lens hood
