💻 Targus Universal Notebook Docking Station: Streamlining Connectivity with Video Streaming (ACP50US) Review

I travel between multiple offices and find it very difficult to connect all my devices to my laptop while traveling (I know, stop whining ). Everything is easy with this docking station. The only downside I have might not be the dock's fault - I have to connect an external monitor directly to the laptop to use both screens. It requires two connections instead of the advertised ones. On the whole, very insignificant (sorry - unintended pun).

Be careful with this product: it is not compatible with 64-bit drivers. I can't find where Targus discloses this fact in their marketing materials. This is a trap for the unwary. And they have no plans to create drivers to make it compatible with 64-bit drivers. This seems to be why this dock is so inferior to others that support 64-bit drivers.

. I blame Targus for the problem, not the seller. The refurbished docking station came with no user manual or driver CD. The video port didn't work either. I had to contact the seller twice before they finally emailed me a return authorization.

Good product works well, be aware that even though it is powered (via USB) you still need to use a laptop power adapter to power the laptop. I ended up buying another adapter so I could leave everything on my desk and not have to unplug the power cord every time I wanted to travel.

I knew better but did it anyway and thought it would be a good compromise (we have IBM, Dell and Toshiba laptops and Sony Really Nice Monitor). There's no modem port (not surprising, but it would be nice), there's a video display, well, everything is visible on the monitor. One of the USB ports is unreliable. I could go on, but you get the picture. Do not worry.

If we can find drivers that work with the HP Windows 7 Enterprise laptop it was intended to be used with, it will perform to expectations. The drivers are out of date and the graphics driver is causing the blue screen crash. Other features of the device work as needed, but since one of the main requirements of the product was to have a video connection, having a compatible video driver was crucial for us. Terrible product. It's not the seller's fault that the product is so terrible. it just is. The main advantage of this is that it has video capabilities. Well, as many lags as there are even with extremely low video quality settings and no support for higher resolutions (above 1024x768). it just destroys the selling point. Bought this item for $39 through Revain. Came in a clear plastic bag with no instructions or data carrier. It looked new and the seller said it was new.
