Exactly or not?

Not sure if my oven is at 30-40° or the thermometer is off. Set the oven to 350°, the thermometer reads 300°. To reach 350°, 400° must be set so that the thermometer shows 350°. I've had this thing for 10 days but it looks like I've had it for 5 years. No food in the oven during "Preheat". Spring.

Pros
  • Looks good
Cons
  • Very expensive

Please do not buy this thermometer

A reliable name, what can go wrong? It rose in temperature. once. It stayed at that temperature after the kiln had cooled. He maintained this temperature for another day while sitting on the kitchen table. After attempting to create a CPR version of the thermometer, it turned out that he would not recover and died in the line of duty. Appropriate funeral services were provided.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • There are nuances

Accurate temperature; Discoloration after one use

I've wanted to buy a baking/roasting oven thermometer for a long time and that's exactly what I was looking for. The temperature readings are as accurate as my new GE oven, so that's a big plus! The only downside is that the glass(?) cover of the thermometer rubs off even after a single use (see photo). And I'm not talking about spatter - it's discoloration of the entire shell. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Hard to say

Required for oven calibration

There are several similar Taylor products. This was recommended by Cooks' Illustrated and we bought this to check the temperature of our oven. We've had one of Taylor's cheapest before (it's all relative, as retail prices only range from $5-$10 and at Revain each can be as low as $2). In fact, there was no visible difference between them. However, Taylor's models (both) are much more readable and much easier to use than the others we had.

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • No performance

DO NOT BUY - MISNAMED

I tried to buy an oven thermometer and ended up getting a fridge and freezer thermometer. They look the same, but the oven model is part number 3506, I have part number 3507. If you look at the back, the inventory tag is for an oven thermometer with the correct part number. So I thought it was an honest mistake, I will order a second one and get the right model next time. It didn't happen, the second came the same way - a model with a freezer, marked as a model with an oven. I suspect all…

Pictured item not received!

The oven thermometer I was sent does not match the product shown. The?! I bought this thermometer based on a review from Cook's Illustrated, it has easy to read colors and large numbers. What I received was neither one nor the other. And according to other reviewers, it seems I'm not the only person who received a different thermometer. Luckily, Revain provided a refund and didn't require the hassle of sending the product back. However, I am appalled that this somehow goes beyond quality…

  • Absolutely amazing!

Oh my god I needed this thing

After switching to a rental shop with a significantly worse range than what I'm used to I found, unsurprisingly, that my pastries were taking sooooo long to cook, often came out raw on the inside, even when baking time was increased by 50% or more. That (and the initially gross state of my oven, which was never cleaned presumably before someone started the self-cleaning cycle - big, no, no) made me give up baking altogether because anything that doesn't fit in mine is that much better is…
