Type of review

I recently bought one of these Taylor 5873 timers and found it to be completely inaudible - the pitch is so high (4000Hz ). it sounds like a dog whistle, only women, children and dogs can hear it. The Thermoworks model has a deeper tone at 2000Hz, which is much better for the elderly. So skip it and look for lower alarm level timers, even if they aren't as loud.

Easy enough for a child to use

Bought for our 7 year old daughter who needs time for activities. It's easy enough to use. (3 buttons total - press top and bottom to reset, top adds minutes, bottom adds seconds, middle starts and stops). It has a small stand to sit on by itself (or a magnet, but we haven't used it that way) and the viewer is large enough to be read from about 3 feet away. The sound is loud enough to be heard from another room but won't wake up a sleeping baby. It's impressive that it's been about 3 months and

easy to use with thermometers and timers

I'm not always around to hear my oven/stove timers so I clip them to my belt as a reminder. It's quick and easy to use. The only wish is that it is thinner and maybe a little smaller. I also use a folding stand to set it up on my desk. The clamp/stand/magnet is well made and stable. The buttons are well placed and responsive. Generally a simple operation where each key performs an action. As are the tiny switches on the back for selecting options like ring or vibrate, and a power button to…

Nice and loud. No more scalloped cookies!

I like that it's REALLY LOUD and CONTINUE beeping until you stop. For me that was the main reason for the purchase. My oven beeps 4-5 times, not very loud, then stops. This timer is great, doesn't let you forget to turn off the oven etc. Just a minor problem resetting. Sometimes I have trouble resetting to zero after locating something. It will reset at the same time, of course you have to press the middle button to restart it. . I used it once late at night, my cookies took another 5 minutes…

large, no memory function, works well independently

I was trying to find a silent timer small enough to stay on my desk and take breaks that fits in my bag. While not huge, it's more than I would like. I also want it to have a memory or time setting feature so if I want it to keep the time I set, if I want it to keep my previously set time, I have to start the timer and let it run to completion let it go and if i stop it it comes back. Otherwise you will have to delete it, install it again or try to add it using the minutes and seconds buttons…

Burnt out after 3 months

We bought this timer a few months ago. It was a <$6 purchase so I wasn't expecting it to last forever but it stopped working a month ago. I was hoping it would last longer than 3 months. Tried replacing the battery, but that didn't help. The product information states that this product comes with a one-year warranty. I tried contacting customer service to find out before leaving a product review on Revain. I filled out a form on Taylor's website. I received an error message - connection…

This timer is awesome

This timer is awesome, just what I was looking for. A few months ago my old timer broke and I searched everywhere for one that would do the same thing as my old timer. I've bought and returned timers wherever I could, even here at Revain. I finally came across this product on another website but I looked for it on Revain, they had the best price so I bought it. So glad I did. First and most important to me the real buzzer when it goes off is amazing. I wanted the buzzer timer to be loud enough…

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Easy to maintain

I'm in my 60's and can't hear as well as I used to, also my oven's built in timer is so quiet you can't hear it from upstairs can (and sometimes not even heard from the living room when the TV is on). I tried to find a really loud kitchen timer so I don't miss it going off and at the end boiling the water from the pot again :)! I've bought several different timers that claim to be loud, but they were loud enough to be heard if you really listened carefully to them, and then they stopped ringing
