I installed this in a bracket just behind the sliding patio door. I like to sit outside late at night but dealing with all the flying bugs or not having enough light to see and move was a challenge. This little lightbulb solved the problem for me. There is enough light to see well but the flying bugs don't bother me and don't try to invade my house as I go in and out. Pros
  • Easy installation

  • There are more interesting options.

Overview of the yellow beetle. Works here!

I have two of these amber/yellow TCP RLAS155WY LEDs on my porch. I used to have a regular CFL light and then one of these GE lights, the GE Lighting 47464 Energy Smart CFL Bug Light, 14W (60W spare), 750lm Medium Cap Nightlight. Regular CFL bulbs were the worst in this house. I couldn't come at night because of moths and various small insects. The GE light wasn't much better. I could have sworn there were a few fewer bugs, but it was bad enough that my wife said there was no difference. That…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
