This is a passive (non-amplified) antenna roughly equivalent to a VHF dipole antenna. Its advantages are that it is smaller, looks better and most importantly, it is easier to set up and align. I read a lot of negative reviews but for $10 I decided it was worth a try. It was like this. Definitely works better than the wire dipole on my Onkyo receiver. It now picks up lower power "student radio" stations that I couldn't get before with either a dipole or any other amplified TV/FM antenna.
