Broadcast from afar

I read ambiguous reviews, but I thought that for $ 12 it would not hurt to try this antenna without an amplifier. I absolutely love this square box that I would buy 5 more times and also give as gifts! Setting it up was as easy as cracking an egg. As soon as I plugged it in, turned on my receiver, set it to "Tuner" I immediately felt a difference in reception! The small rectangular antenna has a small movable bass stand that rotates. I put it on my stereo. I live in a mobile home surrounded by…

Good VHF antenna, just don't expect miracles.

This is a passive (non-amplified) antenna roughly equivalent to a VHF dipole antenna. Its advantages are that it is smaller, looks better and most importantly, it is easier to set up and align. The ability to easily move and rotate this antenna makes it far more useful than hanging an eight-foot dipole on the wall hoping it's pointing in the right direction. It comes with an attached 75 ohm to 300 ohm adapter that will fit any VHF antenna input. It also has a clever little base that allows it…

I am torn. the best radio antennas

I gave this terk 3 stars but I might give it 5 stars because sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and I don't know why. I can return it and buy a higher quality antenna. I live in New York so my signal level fluctuates, I assume multipath is confusing the tuner, and here I am driving Klipsch Heresy speakers and hearing a muddy stereo simulated mono radio signal. talk about heresy. And I really like New York radio: WBGO, WKRC, WQXR, WNYC, etc. Crime. First; Turk outputs a 75 ohm signal; my…

Works much better than expected

I read a lot of negative reviews but for $10 I decided it was worth a try. It was like this. Definitely works better than the wire dipole on my Onkyo receiver. It now picks up lower power "student radio" stations that I couldn't get before with either a dipole or any other amplified TV/FM antenna. You'll need to "point" the antenna to get the best signal, but overall this is very good performance with no parasitic power loss. I believe (but don't know) that many of the negative reviews may be…

Nothing beats no antenna

I'm close to the land, far from the stations' transmitters. I live about 20 miles from the center of one of the 25 largest cities in the US, which has a lot of FM radio stations. Based on the ratings, it was an easy win. After all, my car radio easily picks up many stations in my driveway. I have a high quality Pioneer Elite receiver. Without an antenna, I can receive exactly one station. With this antenna I was able to receive exactly one station. I put it on the windowsill. Not better. I held

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • New competitors

This is an overview of the Terk FM+ indoor VHF antenna. (Square view.) Compared to the ideal placement of a 300 ohm two-terminal dipole, it is more convenient and practical because it is compact and can be manually realigned if necessary. The antenna has some issues that have been discussed both here and in other reviews, but it's cheap and reasonable value for money. When used vertically as shown, the antenna is only omnidirectional in the broad sense that it is not strictly directional (e.g…
