Troubled: Home Audio

Replaced an old external volume control with this one from Theater Solutions. Since it's been installed for less than a year, it's time to replace it. If you increase the volume with each click, the sound will only come from one speaker. At some volume levels it will play from the left speaker and at others from the right speaker, so it's totally random. It won't play from either until the volume gets too loud.

  • An Absolute Legend
Cons
  • So far so good

You get what you pay for.

The plastic is more brittle than it should be for something designed for outdoor use. I'm not a powerlifter, but the metal screws crushed the plastic when just hand tightened. One of the two transformers failed after one season of use, and Wisconsin's pool season isn't that long yet. If I'm only working with one channel, I'll listen to music for a while until I find another, more reliable block. I would recommend all other buyers to also look around for an upgrade.

  • Slightly over

Indoor Outdoor Volume Control

The unit was exactly what I needed and worked as advertised. I wasn't sure about the thickness of the wall in one of our church buildings, so I ordered an outdoor unit that was a fully enclosed fixture. It was easy to connect and got it right the first time. The only issue I noticed is the waterproof seal required for outdoor installation. It was difficult to hold when I reassembled the device. works fine for me

There were issues but the customer service was amazing!

Bought two of these in June. One of the handles was very stiff but I figured it would loosen up over time. This never happened and another controller shorted causing my receiver to go into protect mode. The button on this one worked well so I had good control between them. I finally got around to calling onlyfactorydirect.com, the Amazon fulfillment company, this morning and they sent out two replacements with no problem. I'll look at the strength with these two. Two more errors and I think…

Works great!

I installed this type behind my house last week. Plain 3/4 inch PVC and I have speaker wire going in from the soffit, back into the soffit and down to the ends of the roof where the speakers are installed (klipsch AW-650). I tested. that and the 250-watt-per-channel speakers (250 measured, real-time) from the Monster Power MPA 2250 amplifier, and it held up well. The overall volume of the speakers is reduced by about 10dB compared to what would be if the sound wasn't routed through the box, but

Excellent value for money for cassette decks

Unbeatable price. I found the jumper setting instructions to be very clear. You simply match your amplifier's output impedance against the table, the number of speakers installed and their impedance. If you're not sure what your amp is rated for, go for 8 ohms. If you are using more than one pair I suggest you use 14 gauge speaker wire and use a junction box to connect the pairs together. With more than one pair of wires in the volume control itself, it would be very cramped. Using a separate…

Good outdoor switch

This is a reliable product at a good price ($35). As another reviewer noted, it was difficult to route the speaker wire that was close to the wall plate. However, if you remove the green connector that contains the speaker wires, it's much easier (it just snaps into place). This allows you to connect the cable without holding the controller. I also recommend only using 16 gauge wire if you are only installing one pair of speakers. I installed 2 pairs of speakers and the 16 gauge wire was very…

Does what it's supposed to do

I installed it outside next to the hot tub for convenience and it was a nice addition to my outdoor sound system. I no longer have to run in to turn off the amp! The block sticks out quite a bit, so finding a good place to attach it was a bit difficult. The setup isn't too bad, but it's quite cramped inside the unit so it can be a bit of a challenge to connect all the speaker cables and then plug them back in. I have used CS3 Rated in in wall speaker cables and they were too bulky for the…

  • There are other interesting options.
