Good product, bad packaging

This is an electric current in a chewing tobacco-like packaging. Every time you want to get hold of this material, you'll have to fight with the container's lid to open it. BUOOOO. How about putting this product in a screw top container? I have an idea. God.

Pros
  • High marks for hold and durability from testers
Cons
  • Some problems

Saved a bad desolderer from burning the board

I am a total newbie to soldering and did a poor job on a desoldering project I was trying to finish. However, I applied liberal drops of it with a toothpick and it kept me from damaging or burning the board and kept the liquid metal more or less where I wanted it. It seems like good value for money you are getting.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • old

soldering electrics?

If you solder wires this is what you need. The solder moves quickly through the wires following the flux. Don't make soldering difficult. Check out some videos on YouTube. Get good solder, decent iron, and the best flux you can find. The river matters. Also get a HOT iron holder and clamps for your work. Just do it! don't fight Practice if you've never soldered before. It's easy if you just do it. And your connections will be much better than twisting and gluing or crimping.

Pros
  • Ideal for soldering, repairing and refinishing electronics
Cons
  • Easily wrinkled

newbie? Not sure?: Solder and Flux

I first searched "rosin" or "flux" for months and was shocked at how little information there seemed to be that fully validated one and also were reliable sources of information on what kind to use for specific purposes, color, ingredients, brands, etc. The very little information I found seemed very conflicting, making it difficult to reach a decision meeting. I finally found this brand and it didn't take long to realize that I had bought something else from them and that they were well known,

Pros
  • SGS RoHS Report Compliant
Cons
  • Available in White Only

Half Vaseline! for Soldering and Soldering Equipment

Material Safety Data Sheet found on manufacturer's web site contains 40-60% petrolatum & petroleum jelly only 35-45% rosin (originally pine sap; now often a synthetic blend of chemicals). In comparison, Radio Shack's premium rosin is at least 65% rosin and works like a dream. "Flux" comes from the Latin word for "to flow". The mild acid in the melted rosin will remove the layer of oxidation from the surface of the exposed metals (strands of wire for my purposes) and coat them, allowing the…
