too awkward to use

I started hand quilting and the quilt is NOT framed. Sometimes I use a big hoop, sometimes not. I thought this tool might help pull the needle through the "sandwich" of materials. I find it too labor intensive for me, and I'm just as good with longer sashiko needles and thimbles. I'm sure it's a great tool, but it's just not for me.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Expensive

Perfect handheld smoking device

I bought it for my girlfriend and she loves it. She told me that this was exactly what she was looking for. It can be used as three tools, perfect for running the needle through all those layers for a manual exit, a good thimble and a thread cutter. She can continue sewing as usual, the needle puller lies comfortably in the hand. She is very satisfied and recommends it to her friends.

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • High price

So comfortable! - Thimbles

This little device has made my manual quilting at least 20% faster! I wear it on my middle finger, the hook goes under my index finger and the white button is down. I got straight to the point - no training. It was so convenient. I don't want to do without it when hand quilting! Two negatives: 1. The cutter is terrible; and 2. If you use thin needles (e.g. #12), they may bend. But otherwise it's great! No more searching for a small grip pad in the couch!

  • GOLS certified

Not for Sashiko - Sewing Goods and Supplies

Bought this puller for Sachiko's sewing in hopes it would help pull the needle through the fabric. I use a special very long needle with multiple strands of Sashiko thread. I usually have about 20 stitches per needle. Stretching the needle and thread can be quite tricky. This tool was useless. Sashiko stitches are removed from the stationary needle. The tool cannot clamp the needle tight enough to hold it still and slips off the needle. It was also uncomfortable on my hand and felt like it had…

It's good to have

I LOVE this product. I hand sew on patches for my daughter's Girl Scout and some of the tubing may be BEASTS that can be pierced with a needle. I've tried many thimbles, but not only does my dog literally open my sewing box and take them out to chew, they're generally either good for grabbing the needle or for pushing it through, not both. This product does both GOOD. Plus, I don't have to pull out my scissors just to cut the thread - that's built in too! This is genius! My *only* suggestion is
