Great instrument, fits digital thermometers

I use it to measure soil temp in soil and slightly above. A little slow to get readings but otherwise works great. It stays on indefinitely when open and off when closed. I love this feature because it lives in my backpack. The hold function is great for capturing two different readings and helps with data collection. F or C. Also has max/min. Bigger than I thought it would be, but not too big at all. Runs on one AAA battery. Great tool that I use almost every day. Take good care of it and I'm…

Pros
  • 4.5 inch stainless steel probe opens and can be pointed at any angle
Cons
  • Some cons

It works fine most of the time

I've had it for a few months and it works fine most of the time but sometimes it starts to lag. It provides a constant temperature reading and stores the maximum/minimum reading since the last power failure (can be disabled by folding the sensor along the body). I used it indoors to track ambient temperature; in recent weeks it has started giving false readings (e.g. -51 F, at least when he was monitoring the temperature in the office). I thought it might be the low battery voltage and replaced

Pros
  • Min/Max temp memory for temperature consistency control
Cons
  • No instructions

GOOD QUALITY - EXCELLENT FEATURES

Stronger than I thought. I use it in concrete field tests and it gets dropped and bumped a lot, but it still works (although I try NOT to get it too wet). I buy another because I need to keep a calibrated device and this is the easiest way. Also, it's displayed in 1-degree increments (tenths, actually), so essentially conforms to ASTM C1064 standards (there's no such thing as 'ASTM approved'), and the display is quite large, so if you're standing people have around and watch your results…

Pros
  • Digital thermometer for measuring temperatures in liquids and semi-solids
Cons
  • Not as thick as others

Excellent reference thermometer

I bought this thermometer primarily as a reference thermometer to calibrate marine aquarium temperature controllers. I had to calibrate these controls as they weren't as accurate as I had hoped, but first I needed to know the exact water temperature. I love that this is a scientific test thermometer, factory calibrated to ISO/IEC17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 and 9001 and comes with a calibration certification sheet from an accredited laboratory. The range is -58 to +572 degrees Fahrenheit with a…

Pros
  • Calibrated to ISO 17025 traceability standards for measurement certainty
Cons
  • Not sure
