Incredibly confusing programming guide

This radio needs better written programming guide. I couldn't do it by following the attached instructions. The supplied cable is also not suitable for programming. Requires a special cable, sold separately. Very frustrating trying to program the radio. Finally I had a very experienced friend who programmed the radio for me. The radio is good but I will not buy it again.

works great for the money

First of all it's not Baofeng, it's TIDRadio. However, it is exactly the same as Baofeng UV-5R. It uses the same firmware and that's it. Transmission and reception are excellent for this small portable device. I can easily connect to a local repeater near me and using it on the go in simplex mode has been great with a decent range. Programming with Chirp on a Mac was easy. I had to do a bit of Googling to find the correct USB cable driver, but once I installed it it worked and I had no…

Shouldn't have bought it

I bought this radio to use as an additional VHF/UHF amateur radio transceiver. I was trying to download software on my fairly new Windows 10 desktop. Every time I tried this I got the same error message saying the component was missing and couldn't run. I called Revain tech support, the rep was very helpful; She wasn't sure why that was happening either. When I emailed the seller, he responded quickly but with the same link I originally sent. Other reviews have shown that the software they send

The radio is fine; Accessories under the base.

Advantages: Typically UV-5R. Comes with programming cable and N771 clone antenna, works perfectly. Bonus second battery and car charger for the base. this is to be expected (e.g. the mic hole is too small, you have to enlarge it to actually hear it, use CHIRP to program and just "don't even bother" with the rubber ducky antenna, etc.) MEH: Charging Dock - tick free . Doesn't fit like a Japanese radio; It will take a thicker battery but will also fall out if not placed on a flat and stable…

  • Appearance

This is a Baofeng UV-5R radio, but. no Boafeng logo anywhere. There is a TIDRADIO logo on the front, and there are no Baofeng logos on the battery and antenna. The microphone and programming cables are marked TIDRADIO, but they are exactly the same as the Baofeng UV-5R. The price of this package is very reasonable. This radio is probably a good choice if you want the complete package to include most of the basic components needed to run HAM RADIO, while still having a Baofeng quality radio with
