First of all it's not Baofeng, it's TIDRadio. However, it is exactly the same as Baofeng UV-5R. It uses the same firmware and that's it. Transmission and reception are excellent for this small portable device. I can easily connect to a local repeater near me and using it on the go in simplex mode has been great with a decent range. Programming with Chirp on a Mac was easy. I had to do a bit of Googling to find the correct USB cable driver, but once I installed it it worked and I had no problems. Overall great value for money. Will I someday replace it with a better (more expensive and feature-rich) radio? Yes. Is this a great radio to get into a hobby? Yes / Yes!
