Works but BEWARE of tools and equipment

WARNING! This product works but use caution and be aware. I used it on a 2007 Honda Accord and the installation went smoothly. Make sure the cylinder is lowered from the spark plug. I used bearing grease and removed it several times to catch the sawdust. I repeated the measurements to be extra careful and I also had a camera with me. I used the vacuum and started the car with the spark plug removed to clean up any sawdust that might have been missed. The cylinder held a vacuum and the spark…

Expensive but excellent

Successful repair of a '11 Honda Fit with the head fitted. Saved a lot of time, money and nerves. The work went very smoothly. I filled the grooves of the faucet with grease and then cleaned the hole with acetone soaked rag squares held by a flexible gripping tool. The starting thread on the faucet makes it almost reliable. If you're new to this sort of thing, take your time and triple check everything you're doing - cock angles, valves lifted to the side, threads and seat fully cut, etc. The…

High quality Persian instruments. The best design.

Got a Time-Sert 14x1.25 to replace a blown spark plug in a Toyota Tundra 4.7L V8. The spigot is long, so a long enough screwdriver is included to reach it. Although I had to use a paper towel stuffed into the driver to hold it on top of the cut and paste tools. The system uses an original beveled cutting edge guided by a tap to deepen the top of the plug threads and allow the insert to sit flush. The key to installing the insert without damaging the engine/piston/rings is to set the repaired…

Great for fixing a spark plug hole

I had a spark plug fly out of an aluminum head so I was looking for a solution. This kit is expensive, but the money and time saved by repairing the head in the field is more than double. Removing the head requires at least 4 hours of disassembly, a $30 tool kit to keep the cams and cam gears in the same position, and at least another 4 hours of reassembly. I haven't included the actual repair because I'm not exactly sure what all the options are. The first fix was a $1,000 head replacement…

Best Engineering Product Ever

Time-Sert is the best engineering kit available; Use red grease on the faucet grooves to prevent chips from entering the cylinder, follow the instructions carefully, find a youtube video (I liked realfixesrealfast the best - a 3 piece set that shows the whole process shows) to go through it, make 3-4 turns. Removing and cleaning the faucet will repair a damaged spark plug thread. I have used high temperature red Loctite on the top threads of my insert and my favorite 2007 Accord V6 6 Speed EX-L

Pros
  • Great Value
Cons
  • Large and Bulky

Don't mess with cheaper kits, TimeSert WORKS first time

Blow the spark plug out of my Toyota Sequoia 4.7V8. Total repair time is about an hour. The TineSert kit is more expensive than cheap knurled inserts, but they work and won't come out. I have knurled inserts. It's still cheaper than pulling your head! The only problem is that with the deep bores on this engine, it's almost impossible to remove the landing cutter from the valve stem. Even with a magnetic tool, you won't be able to reach deep enough. The included screwdriver tool cannot unscrew…

Worked on a Honda Fit 07

Changed the hole thread for the number 2 spark plug on a 2007 Honda Fit with 257000 miles. I was driving on the freeway and the car started to sound like a motorcycle and that was because a spark plug with a coil had popped out in the second cylinder. Purchased watch set 4412e-111 from Revain. Make sure the piston is in the down position by inserting a pick into the spark plug hole and turning the engine clockwise by hand (never turn counterclockwise or you will damage the engine). Once the…
