What is the difference between 16GB and SSD!

I upgraded my iMac 27" (Mid 2011) from 8GB to 24GB using this 16MB kit (2-8GB sticks). I also upgraded the hard drive to a 1 -TB SSD upgraded. "Wow, what's the difference! Now this thing is lightning fast. It may be 10 years old, but it competes with new machines. It has an Intel Core i7 clocked at 3.4 GHz."

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Completely remodeled my computer!

I use a lot for audio editing (Logic Pro X), Photoshop and other heavy software and my computer was really struggling to keep up as it was a 2012 MacBook Pro, and even with a 500 GB SSD and 8 GB RAM there were still big problems. I just installed it in minutes and my computer is running SOOOOOOO much better! It made a huge difference and it was very easy to get back to work! Everything runs smoothly and much better!

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Nothing here

Worth every penny: Internals

I bought this to upgrade my GF's 2012 Mackbook Pro. Before the swap, it ran Maverick and had a 500GB hard drive with 4GB of DDR3 RAM. I replaced it with a 250GB SSD and added 16GB of DDR3 RAM (the maximum allowed on a mid-2012 Macbook Pro). My girlfriend has never used her computer and now it works like a dream. She loves it and I originally upgraded to El Capitain before moving to High Sierra. It's so easy to turn what they call a "useless laptop" into a new Mackbook.

Pros
  • Great price

How about a new $60 iMac!?

I've seriously considered throwing my iMac out the window. It didn't work with two programs open and I had nightmares about the stupid spinning rainbow wait icon. Only 5 years old, it was a colorful paperweight. Then I discovered that I had two more RAM slots that I could add without damaging the machine. For only $60 I was able to upgrade my computer to something resembling a computer made in this century. In fact, it's as big as it is now, and with the new OS and Firefox update (Firefox used…

Easy to install and works great!

I have a 13 inch MacBook Pro from Mid 2012 (model number: A1278). I've had it since I went to college 4 years ago and it's been fine, but it started to work a little slower. I did some research which eventually led me to upgrade the RAM. I was looking around and found all the good reviews so I decided to check it out. I bought the kit suggested by Revain with a set of screwdrivers and extra screws as I didn't already have it. It arrived on time and I couldn't wait to get to work. The only…

I successfully upgraded my old "max " MacBook Pro with this

Beach balls, apps taking minutes to load, computers taking over 5 minutes to boot and less than 100MB of available RAM at a time. Apple says you can't take this machine over 8GB. But I was curious and spent some time on some message boards and was pleasantly surprised that many people said you can fully upgrade to 16GB despite Apple's claims. The link to these chips was in one of these threads and I took a chance and it's like a new computer. Everything is stable now, applications load…

Honestly, you don't need branded RAM. Other than that, it's Timetec's Hynix brand, so it's comparable to your OEM type of RAM when you got your MacBook Pro. At $89.99 plus tax it was a steal! Since RAM equals RAM, as long as you meet the requirements, you don't need to pay more as it offers the same, if not better, performance than the more expensive ones. Installation on a mid 2012 Macbook Pro was a breeze, I didn't even have to disconnect the battery. Simply discharge static electricity by…

it's ok but. for computers and accessories

It seems that this RAM does not fit well into your memory slots during installation. That's true, but be careful, take your time, and maneuver well without touching the gold stripe on the bottom of the butt or slot. Baran does what it's supposed to do, which is more RAM at an affordable price. I think the quality is ok. There are certain brands of RAM that have good speed and performance, but this isn't one of them. Memory speeds are average when performing basic tasks on a laptop. If you have…
