Great knife for the price

I've always wanted a Japanese knife and this Tojiro DP fits well. It's very sharp and feels good in my hand. The only downside I would give is that the area around the radiator is not very well finished and appears rough. But overall it's a good value, especially if you don't want to spend $200 on a knife.

Pros
  • Useful for more than it's intended purpose
Cons
  • Packaging is ugly

6.7 " Santoku Chef's Knife

I bought this knife to replace an old cheap Santoku that worked surprisingly well for years but the pink plastic handle finally gave out. This one is clearly higher quality. So far it has sharpened and held the blade quite well. I sharpen about every 2 washes. The shank goes through the handle and is balanced for my hand. I like it. I never hesitate to update my reviews as new information emerges. useful .

Excellent Quality and Extremely Low Price

This knife has quickly become the most used knife in my kitchen. It fits perfectly in the hand and is ideal for solving almost any task. The high quality steel has retained a very sharp edge after a month of use and still looks great. There are very small (aesthetic only) scratches on the side of the blade but I'm 99% sure it's because I used too much elbow grease when I cleaned it with a heavy duty sponge. Highly recommended. An excellent combination of quality and value.

Brilliant performance from blade to handle

Unlike the original Tojiro DP, the newer and improved version has a vg10 kernel. Superb craftsmanship from blade to hilt, with an obviously full shank and immaculate outer edge. The knife retails for $100, at the time of writing this review it's selling for almost half that price. At $50-60, it easily beats any other knife in its price range. It's a good weight, although the padding is a bit odd, doesn't cause any discomfort. Great for beginners, both fit and budget minded.

Amazing sharp perfect knife!

I LOVE this knife. This is the best knife I've ever used. For the record, I have fairly small to medium sized hands and can handle this knife very well and comfortably. This thing is SO SPICY, dicing an onion is so easy. That's great. Never return. The only thing I might want to try in the future is a knife with small notches on the blade, as this knife requires me to stop slicing multiple times to get food off the outside of the blade. Maybe I just need to use a big cutting board and cut away!

I didn't think I could find such high quality for such a low price.

This is a really good knife for the money. It offers a sharp hair shave and is made with a VG-10 steel core so it should stay sharp for a long time. In addition, it has excellent balance and is designed to be more comfortable to grip with the right hand, but can also be used with the left hand. The only downside are very small blemishes, which can easily be overlooked for this price range due to other qualities and a significantly lower price than comparable knives (Shun, Mac, Masahiro, Global,

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Communication with seller

I bought this knife for a colleague. I have three Tojiro DP knives (150 small, 210 small, 240 gyuto). I HATE that these knives are sharpened on the template because the heels ALWAYS have a little curl at the end because the template can't sharpen the entire edge. So expect to learn how to sharpen and hone a blade (or just use a dull, unevenly sharpened/sharpened knife). Take a rough DMT and a combined King Stone and shape the desired edge. However, the reason it lost a star from me isn't…

Great knife at a great price

I have used many quality knives over the years. I used to use beautiful Wustof Icon knives when I owned a restaurant. Good working knives. Around the time Japanese knives were getting in the way of the US, I bought a set of Shun Classics. I liked the steel. Not happy with the handles. A few years ago I developed chronic pain in the tendons of my right wrist and wanted a lighter main knife. First I bought a cheap Santuco. It was a good knife, but I lacked a blade to give to Shuns. Enter Tojiro…
