This lens was purchased as the main lens for a general purpose travel lens that came with the EOS RP. The autofocus works flawlessly, fast with really sharp image quality. It's fast enough with reasonable zoom as an all-in-one travel lens. The price is also quite competitive compared to Canon, Sigma or Tamron. One of the downsides for me is the weight. Great lens. Robust construction - like a tank. The colors and contrast are fantastic, the bokeh is very pleasing. The image quality is quite comparable to the much more expensive Canon equivalent, but significantly cheaper. At 50mm the images are indistinguishable from my 50mm at 2.8. Very sharp even in the corners above f/3.0 at 70mm. Focusing isn't as fast as Canon's USM lenses, but certainly not slow. Update 01/15/15: This lens has serious auto focus issues. For the past two weeks I've been testing this lens and adjusting the camera's focus, but to no avail. It may be a defective copy. With telefocus, focusing is accurate about 75% of the time. not good. It is unsuitable at the wide end, 40 mm and wider. Willy-nilly it goes from extreme back focus to extreme front focus and is rarely accurate. I like everything else about this lens, but if I can't open it wide due to focus issues, it's…
