I bought this disc for the DVR, it's very slow. Advertised with a 1 year factory warranty, this drive is marked as 2013 stock. I entered the serial number on the Toshiba warranty website, the Toshiba website says NON HDD SN and there is no factory warranty. This drive is badly garbled and appears to be fake and also looks like a generic drive with my Win 7 OS. Buy it at your own risk, it's junk in my opinion.

Here's what I learned about these hard drives. I bought 4 of these to use as external hard drives (by adding cases) for PC backup for a small non-profit business. They work fine. No problem. They were brand new hard drives in a large package, in plain white packaging (packaged by Toshiba apparently). For the price this is a great solution for my use. Works great and only costs a few doll hairs more than a used 7 year old drive of the same specs on E-bay. And this drive comes with a warranty :-) Note that the price is up about 15% since buying it a week ago, so you might want to keep an eye on price fluctuations if you don't have an immediate need.

The drive on my 3 year old Toshiba laptop died after only 3 years (no, I don't abuse it. It stays on the desk most of the time). This replacement slid right into the bay and took over smoothly after reloading the backup image. Now the real test will be its durability, so remains to be seen. So far I'm happy with the performance and the price.
