A bit lightly built, but sufficient.

The base is thinner than expected but sufficient for the Comet SBB5 39" Ham Radio Antenna (2m VHF/440MHz UHF) - this antenna weighs only about 9 oz. Can be attached any bird perch mount and I have successfully used it on my 2020 Freightliner Cascadia by using the exact bird perch mount screwed into the transom mount holes.Any HF antenna needs something a little stronger - although I believe it is for a typical CB antenna was developed.

Pros
  • Package height is 3.25"
Cons
  • There are issues

However, it is also suitable for mounting on flat metal surfaces.

I use this bracket on my truck's toolbox to support the Yaesu screwdriver antenna. I needed the SO239 side to be flat for this application and that's what I got. I bought another one to use as a mount for the same antenna in a field/base scenario. However, the width between the studs and the length of the studs is simply not enough to fit a standard 1.25" mast. Tram: If you made a bracket with holes just 1/8 inch wider (horizontally and vertically) and with half inch longer screws, you'd beโ€ฆ

Hard and strong! for AV accessories

Using Diamond Super Gainer SG 7900A on the transom mount of a 2015 Freightliner Cascadia with this mount. It's strong enough to handle that big, heavy antenna at 65 mph on the freeway. I am very happy with it. You can also use any antenna cable. I use LMR 240. Good that there is no antenna cable in the kit. In general I am satisfied. In addition, it is completely made of stainless steel, so after 4 months of operation of the truck and a lot of driving in the rain, no rust. I drive a truck inโ€ฆ

Great for radio frames

Used to mount the antenna for my Yaesu FT818ND and Buddistick antenna for radio frames for portable operation on long hikes. Works perfectly! My antenna uses a 3/8" threaded mount, so I removed the SO-239 connector from that mount and replaced it with a 3/8" antenna mount I had on hand. Works great! Contacts made with 5 watts via USB as far away as Indiana off the coast of South Carolina. Does not negatively impact transmission loss - which is important for this QRP operator!

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires socket
