Trendnet 16-Port Shielded Patch Panel

I bought this patch panel due to surge and EMI in my wired home network. I used to use a regular 24-port unshielded patch panel, but I've had repeated problems with surges and EMI, damage to the motherboard, NIC, router, and cable modem. When using this shielded patch panel, you must use shielded twisted pair (STP) cable instead of UTP cable. Beware of bad connectors

Overall I like the design and finish of this product. However, I got into a very frustrating situation that ended up costing me a lot of time, money and worry. I found that one of the ports on my panel is faulty and unable to connect one of the 8 wires. At first I suspected that it was a defective stamp or a bad cable. I ended up running a brand new 75 foot cable to fix the problem. In the end I finally figured out that this is a bad port on the patch panel. It never occurred to me to consider…

Some DOA ports on cables and accessories

Received this patch panel last week and hooked up 6 new Cat 6 cables over the weekend just launched. Four of 6 lines fit without problems. However, the other 2 did not register. I checked the panel to make sure I had punched them all the way, went back to the other end and tested them - reinserted/re-punched - same result. I've checked the line for cuts/breaks as best I can - found nothing. After spending about 12 hours on this last week, I decided to remove the patch panel and plug in 2 wires…
