DO NOT BUY bike locks

Absolute rubbish. I wouldn't trust this to lock a bike from Walmart. Its woven stainless steel braid is 1" in diameter, but the actual portion of the CABLE that protects your bike is 1/4" thick. Bought to lock up my motorbike and it was easily cut and my bike was stolen. Don't waste your time or money.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other locks

Latch mechanism sticks

I attached it to a post and it got stuck. I had to hit it and use another of the keys to open it. I used a smaller main cable lock on my bike and it was stolen. This lock can also be easily cut with a hand-held cable cutter. It's just a collection of little cylinders that can be separated from each other and still cut the little wire inside.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Functionality

Will not open for sport

The lock looks impressive but didn't last long. It hasn't opened after 2 weeks. I fiddled with all three keys and bent two of them in the process (simply because they looked cheap). It took me exactly two attempts with the bolt cutters to cut through the outer layer and the inner cable, which is actually not that big. Battleship? Not really.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Expensive

DO NOT USE AS PRIMARY ANTI-THEFT PROTECTION - EASY TO CUT

This lock looked like one of the strongest locks I could find. It's been on my bike for a month now. When I came back today I found the chain had been cut in half. It doesn't even look like the thieves went to much trouble to make it, as it's a neat, clean cut. Luckily I have a real heavy-duty wheel lock, so apparently that's why they decided not to take it in the end. I will definitely do more research before buying my next security network.

  • Certified
Cons

TG3072SX ERROR! best in cable locks

This lock is cheaply made. There are two red buttons on the PLASTIC receiver that are clearly not in use. There were no directions or instructions and I couldn't find it online. I pushed them and they collapsed inside leaving holes in the mechanism. Another reviewer said that upon returning to his motorcycle he found the thieves had successfully frozen the lock by snapping the cable. No wonder. It looks harsh, but IMHO I highly doubt it. I will be asking for a refund for BOTH TG3072SXs I…

A good lock could use a better lock and key

Very thick cable. Would have given it 5 stars but 1 key out of 3 broke on my second day. A key with a light on it is very fragile. I use it with my Thule pannier rack and wrap it twice around the bike so it would be very difficult to cut it twice and also break the Thule lock. Would buy again but key and locking mechanism could be better. Great design if they fix those two things. In addition, it is a closed cable, which makes it difficult to cut. Ordinary bolt cutters will have a hard time…

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Artificial cable lock: Cable locks

I chose this cable lock for my new scooter because of positive reviews. Positive Comments: The lock is lightweight, easy to roll up and store. The keyhole is protected by a small sliding plastic cover to keep dirt out. The product includes a set of three keys. Negative Comments: This is a lightweight 1/4 inch cable in a hollow sleeve that looks like 1 inch steel braid. This is done to fool potential thieves. This probably works most of the time, except on mine the plastic and metal mesh grommet
