I just tried it on my car. I have a Nissan Leaf that I rent. For a loan I wanted something that could be easily removed and wouldn't leave marks etc. The vent in my car is the same as in the picture - horizontal louvers before vertical ones. The back of the mount is hard rubber that seems to last a while. The rubber is cut to allow one of the horizontal blades to slide - this gap is slightly wider.
