Cute Screw Set

Well, there isn't much to say about that. They fit my bike perfectly and now I can ride them without the crank falling off. They were well packaged and arrived quickly. Looks like high quality metal. There is nothing more to say about these guys.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Update possibility

'90 style crankshaft bolt

I used these bolts in the restoration of a vintage 1990's racing bike. I replaced the loose lower ball bearing mount with a sealed assembly. These screws replace the previously used flange nuts and sticky plastic caps. It was a feature upgrade and a look upgrade. You will need an 8mm Allen key to install them. Do not overtighten the screws. The shaft is conical and requires only a small clamping force.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Just in case, bought the best in Sport

I bought a new Truvativ bottom bracket for my Surly 1X1 bike. The packaging did not state that the screws were included. Even if you think they should be. Some reviews said the Truvativ came with screws and others didn't. So I bought extra screws just in case. My Truvativ bottom bracket came with screws of course and now I have two extras. But I can tell you that if I hadn't bought those extra screws, the Truvativ bottom bracket would have arrived without them. There is no doubt about it. Buyer

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Negative gift

Built-in dust caps don't protect the suction threads very well.

Looks great. I'm sure it will hold the crank well. It even has torque settings on it. But the built-in dust cap that protects the extraction threads doesn't make enough contact with the threads to keep them out. I was hoping they would rub the threads enough to protect them from dust. It wobbles there if you try it without the handle attached. I've searched all over the internet for the best solution and there aren't many in this price range. I am surprised that such a simple item has never…
