Perfect fit for 2012 Highlander

This overhead gate kit completely replaces the existing overhead gate posts. They work well and were easy to install. You don't need the old clips as they include a cap and pin that holds them in place.

Pros
  • Same as everything before
Cons
  • Nothing here

Fits perfectly. The installation is a bit tedious. .

Fits perfectly. The installation is a bit tedious. The retaining clips fit into small holes that can be a bit difficult to find once the lift is installed. However, with a flashlight and a little patience, installing both elevators only took five minutes.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • I have no complaints about it, everything is fine

Works well when you install them

These tailgate stays work well when you install them. They are difficult to install. I had to use a large set of channel locks and a lot of force to push them. I couldn't force them manually. Only time will tell how they hold up. Genuine Toyota bars lasted four years on Toyota Hilander power liftgates. I would give a 5 if it was easier to install.

Lift support is good. Tiny retaining clips are painful

Once I figured out the best way to insert the tiny retaining clips with pins after the post was clicked in, installation was very easy. I couldn't find a video online and the TUFF website doesn't have any details. The clips are very small, so place the sheet under the workspace in case you drop it (and you will). Incredible to find her in a black driveway. The rear window pillars were much lighter as they simply clicked into place.

Pros
  • Value for money
Cons
  • Secret

Purchased to replace the original lift brackets on my wife's 2010 Highlander Hybrid Limited. What I was not aware of when purchasing is that Toyota intends to manufacture the lift and brackets that attach to the car and tailgate as a single unit and the brackets are not included with this purchase. I had to find a way to loosen the original supports from the brackets (I found a grinder worked best). However, when I did, they worked really well.

Pros
  • A dream come true
Cons
  • Negative gift

Ridiculously easy fix. Saved a lot of money by doing it myself.

They fit my 2012 Toyota Highlander perfectly. Add this to the list of "something a lot easier to install than you might think". It took me about 10 minutes because I wasn't 100% sure what I was doing the first time. Be sure to watch an installation video or two (they're pretty generic) and put a ladder under the door so you don't get hit in the head when removing the spacers. (The rear doors can weigh up to 300 pounds!) The uprights that came with my Highlander required a small flat headโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
