🔧 Set of 2 Tuff Support Hood Lift Supports for 2003-2004 Mercury Marauder, 1998-2011 Ford Crown Victoria, and 2002-2004 Mercury Grand Marquis Review

The bonnet didn't go up as I thought it would. I looked online and decided I needed two new ones. Pulled out the old ones - it took about 20 seconds and now my problem is solved. The car was a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria.

The hood did not open. On other cars I have used a spring on the hood latch to open the hood. The hinge then springs back to hold the hood open. This car simply uses cylindrical jacks to open and hold the hood. New jacks fixed the hood not opening. I just took the old ones off and put the new ones on. If you had a choice, you could unclip the old ones to get rid of them. I had to tighten the threaded ends on new ones.

Years ago I realized that elevator bearings are an item where OEM does NOT always mean better! My Crown Vic's hood recently needed help staying open in cooler weather. This is a sign of failure of the lift legs before they are completely out of service. These supports fit perfectly, had great (but not too much) buoyancy support and took less than 5 minutes to replace/install the original. Great value for money, would buy again if needed!

2003 Mercury Grand Marquis. A pair of new supports replaced failed nodes. PO didn't understand why the hood was difficult to open and used a broomstick to hold it open. The only tool needed was a small, thin screwdriver to get in and out of the original clips to remove the old dead block. Make sure the hood is at the maximum height held by the stick and then the new block bushings will line up and snap into place. full height.
