UGears Plywood Line: Exquisite Mechanical Collectible for Enthusiasts Review

We bought this for my 92 year old father-in-law as he doesn't primarily work from home but loves different types of puzzles. We haven't heard from him yet if he's started working on it, but he seemed very happy with the challenge. It arrived on time and appeared to be with all parts. Would buy from this seller again.

Probably the worst wooden model ever! I have built models of Tinkineer and ROKR and they are all built to their instructions. This one from Ugears wasn't designed properly and the laser cut wasn't very accurate. The parts fit poorly, and about a third of the gears broke and the nodes didn't mate. I threw it in the trash and will never buy a Ugears model again. I want it assembled properly but from this experience other brands are a better buy.

While the finished puzzle looks great, there are many assembly issues. First you need to wax each part that is attached to another part. If you don't, you'll need a small hammer to snap the pieces together. Sometimes the top layer of wood comes loose when assembling or removing parts. Some parts have slightly longer sides than others, but the sides are the same in the pictures. Some sub-images do not match the part itself. So you can only guess if you have the right part or if it will fit…
